Servanthood...?
Becca and I met with Daniel Holcomb and his girlfriend Erin last night. He is asscociated with Lahash Ministries, a grassroots organization that creates partnerships between Americans and Africans. He grew up in the Sudan and he and his girlfriend have both traveled to Uganda. It was such a blessing to be able to pepper them with all kinds of questions and concerns.
It struck me when he began speaking of what it looks like to be a servant among the people while in Uganda. Since then, I have been pondering that image. Sometimes my focus can be so much more on what we will be doing, or the unimportant details of the trip (ie. what kind of shoes do we wear?), than cultivating an attitude of servanthood. Jesus came as a foreigner, who more than anyone else, deserved to be served, yet he was the servant. So what does it look like as an American to travel to Africa (where they will want to serve us), to in turn serve them? How does my heart need to change to be more like Christ's? Please be praying for us to have the attitude of Christ. Please pray for tangible ways we can be Christ to the people. We love you all. And thank you for all your support.
